Reviewers of Madrid-based restaurant Amazónico often lean on words like sexy, fun, funky, and stylish to describe the dining experience, all of which make it sound like an apt fit for the hard-partying, food-obsessed Miami community. On Friday, September 26, the team behind Amazónico will launch its first U.S. outpost at 800 Brickell Avenue, Miami.
“Miami was the natural next step,” say co-founders Sandro Silva and Marta Seco. “We’ve always felt like Amazónico was made for this city. The cultural energy, the people, the rhythm of life, all align perfectly with what we’ve built.”
Silva and Seco opened the first Amazónico in 2016 in Madrid and quickly expanded to London, Dubai, and Monte Carlo. The design and decoration of Rio de Janeiro in the 1970s inspired the husband-and-wife duo. They combine Brazilian modernism, indoor-outdoor dining, a rooftop bar, and live music to create “an immersive gastronomic journey through the Amazon.”
Amazónico Miami will feature three floors with live bands, an open kitchen, DJs, and lush decorations that mirror the rainforest and a vintage version of Rio de Janeiro. The second floor features a bar, lounge, and sushi counter. The third floor features a rooftop bar with stunning views of Miami and is supposed to be a lively scene.“As you ascend through the venue, the energy intensifies,” states the press release.
The menu, designed by Silva, also draws inspiration from Brazil with influences from Argentina, China, India, and Nikkei (Peruvian-Japanese) cuisine. Dishes include arroz chaufa with duck breast, wood-fired seabass, and plenty of steak. For the Miami location, the team has added a variety of seafood dishes, like Alaskan king crab with Nekkei dressing, black tiger prawns in a coconut bisque, and yellowfin bass in a spicy warm broth.
“Miami brings us closer to the source of so much of our inspiration,” says Silva and Seco.
