New 'Fast & Furious' coaster coming to Universal Studios Florida

Universal Orlando Resort will debut a new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida in 2027, while permanently closing the Fast & Furious – Supercharged ride and replacing the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit attraction. The new coaster will feature a 170‑foot vertical spike that launches riders nearly 17 stories high over CityWalk and will simulate 360‑degree drifting on an outdoor track. A similarly named coaster is slated for Universal Studios Hollywood later this year, but the Orlando version’s exact speed and track length have not been disclosed.

Universal Orlando Resort announced Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will open at Universal Studios Florida in 2027.

Fast & Furious – Supercharged will permanently close in 2027 to make way for the new coaster.

The new coaster will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, which closed in 2025.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will include a 170-foot vertical spike that sends riders nearly 17 stories into the air over Universal CityWalk.

The coaster will simulate drifting, spinning riders 360 degrees while traveling along an outdoor track.

Universal Orlando Resort is getting a new “Fast & Furious”-themed roller coaster and closing its existing ride from the same film franchise.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will debut at Universal Studios Florida in 2027, the resort announced on Jan. 20.

“As Universal Studios Florida makes way for this exciting new experience, Fast & Furious – Supercharged will permanently close in 2027," the resort said in a news release.

Fans may notice the new coaster shares a name with the one coming to Universal Studios Hollywood later this year.

Both coasters will simulate drifting, spinning riders 360 degrees while speeding along outdoor tracks, but they won't be carbon copies.

California's coaster will feature 4,100 feet of track and hit speeds up to 72 miles per hour, according to Universal Studios Hollywood.

Universal Orlando hasn't shared those details yet, but notes its version will include a “170-foot vertical ‘spike’ that will send riders nearly 17 stories in the air over the outskirts of Universal CityWalk.”

The new coaster will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, which was located toward the front of Universal Studios Florida and closed in 2025.
