Artificial intelligence is quickly becoming a part of many aspects of life, and education is no exception. Floydada Collegiate ISD is diving in.

Floydada CISD announced that it is one of four school districts participating in the RAISE AI Collaborative, a pilot program that seeks to integrate AI into education at rural school districts.

“The RAISE AI Collaborative is a system-focused initiative designed to empower rural educators, particularly in Texas and Arizona, to integrate artificial intelligence into instructional practices in ways that authentically support student learning,” the district said in a press release. “By aligning AI-enhanced teaching with district instructional goals and systemic policy, the initiative fosters educator-driven innovation over isolated experimentation.”

Other districts participating in the pilot are Cumby Collegiate ISD, Roscoe Collegiate ISD and Uvalde CISD. The program is being facilitated by Northern Arizona University and a handful of education nonprofits, including Collegiate Edu-Nation, which will provide leadership and support to district participants.

"Texas educators and students are leading the way in demonstrating how rural schools can use innovation to create new opportunities for all learners," Rachael McClain, president of Collegiate Edu-Nation, said in a statement. "We are thrilled to see these four districts recognized for their leadership and commitment to building future-ready systems."

Through participation in RAISE, Floydada Collegiate ISD will engage in co-design sessions and rapid learning cycles with peers and experts, receive support in crafting AI integration strategies that align with local values and help lead instructional practices that can be shared across rural regions.

"Being selected for the RAISE AI Collaborative is a significant opportunity for Floydada Collegiate ISD to lead in rural innovation," said Superintendent Gilbert Trevino. “Our teachers understand our students and community best, and this initiative ensures their expertise shapes how AI enhances learning — both now and sustainably for the future."
